Not at all — Rollgate complements Patreon, it doesn’t compete with it. Think of it this way: Patreon is for passive support tiers (bonus content, early access, thank-you perks). Rollgate is for interactive world participation — character sheets, loot drops, story votes, and live campaign involvement. They serve completely different motivations. Many creators run both simultaneously and see their total revenue increase because they’re monetizing engagement, not just loyalty.

Absolutely not. Rollgate is system-agnostic by design. It works beautifully with Cyberpunk Red, Blades in the Dark, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, Savage Worlds, Mothership, FATE, and any other tabletop RPG you can imagine. If you can play it at a table, Rollgate supports it. Character sheets, rewards, and world-state features adapt to whatever system you run.

Character sheets are created and managed entirely through Discord bot commands — lightweight, fast, and designed to live alongside your community chat. No VTT required. Members use simple slash commands to create characters, update stats, track inventory, and manage backstory. GMs can view, edit, and manage all sheets from the streamer dashboard. It’s intentionally minimal so it doesn’t get in the way of the story.

VTT integrations are on our roadmap and something we’re actively exploring. Currently, Rollgate operates standalone via Discord — which keeps things simple and means your community doesn’t need any extra software. When VTT integrations arrive, they’ll be additive, not required. Discord-first will always be a core workflow.

Rollgate is completely free for creators during early access — no setup fees, no monthly charges, no hidden costs. When we move past early access, we’ll introduce a small platform fee on transactions (details TBD), but it will always be designed to be creator-friendly. We succeed when you succeed.

All payments are powered by Stripe — the same infrastructure used by Shopify, Twitter, and thousands of other platforms. Your community members subscribe at tiers you set (typically $5–$15/month), and the money goes directly to you. Stripe handles all the billing, invoicing, tax forms, and payment security. You just set your tiers, share your link, and watch your revenue grow.

Getting started takes about five minutes. Sign up on our onboarding page, connect your Discord server, customize your membership tiers and perks, then share your unique Rollgate link with your community. Our Discord bot handles role assignment, character sheet access, and channel gating automatically based on membership level. You’ll be up and running before your next session.

Rollgate works at any scale — and small communities are often the most engaged. Even 10–20 paying members at $10/month is $100–$200/month of new, recurring revenue. That’s real money for dice, books, art commissions, or reinvesting in your stream. And because Rollgate drives active participation (not just passive support), small communities tend to have higher conversion rates than large ones.
